Welcome to our 19th Newsletter.

Dear Readers

It really has been a busy time for us since our last eNotices, but it does look now as if events have slowed down for the foreseeable future — as we had expected after the end of the 80th anniversary commemorations.

I can report on talks, exhibitions, new articles, reviews of books and film, and a new plaque, so there is still plenty for you to read over the holidays. See them all in the usual sections below.

We are delighted to be able to showcase the works of young artists like Maite Pinto and Gianluca Urdiroz Agati who have come to us with an interest in the Basque Children.

The Southampton event (see below) was a good opportunity for us to strengthen our links not only with various departments of the university whose fields of interest in research and teaching overlap with those of the association, but also with the Special Collection section of the Archives which holds our Association's archives.

As usual we have some interesting items for you in the "From the Archives" section.

As we enter August we are all thinking of our summer breaks, which means that all communications with us may take longer than usual. We do, however, plan to be back in business in September.

Meanwhile, all at the Association wish all of you, our readers, a happy and restful holiday.

Homerton College marks its 250th anniversary this year. Homerton is where Leah Manning trained as a teacher and is home to several of Coqué Martínez’s works which are on permanent exhibition around the college. Read more here …

Two new books:
The first is a novel aimed at young adults, translated from the Welsh "The Moon is Red"
by Myrddin ap Dafydd,
the second is a travel/memoir "That was Then, But This is Now — Travels in Spain"
by Andy Grigg which should be published shortly.

Bienvenido a nuestro 19º Boletín.

Queridos lectores

Ha sido una temporada muy activa para nosotros desde nuestro último boletín, pero ahora parece que los eventos se van espaciando, tal como esperábamos tras las conmemoraciones del 80º aniversario.

Tenemos informaciones sobre charlas, exposiciones, nuevos artículos, reseñas de libros y películas, y una nueva placa conmemorativa, por lo que todavía hay mucho para leer durante las vacaciones. Véalos todos en las secciones habituales a continuación.

Estamos encantados de poder mostrar las obras de jóvenes artistas como Maite Pinto y Gianluca Urdiroz Agati que se han dirigido a nosotros interesados por los niños vascos.

El evento de Southampton (ver abajo) fue una buena oportunidad para fortalecer nuestros vínculos no solo con varios departamentos de la universidad cuyos campos de interés en investigación y docencia se solapan con los de la asociación, sino también con la sección Colección Especial de los Archivos que alberga el archivo de nuestra Asociación.

Como de costumbre, tenemos algunos artículos interesantes para vosotros en la sección "De los Archivos".

Entrando en agosto, todos estamos pensando en nuestras vacaciones de verano, lo que significa que todas las comunicaciones con nosotros pueden tardar más de lo habitual. Sin embargo sí planeamos retomar las riendas en septiembre.

Mientras tanto, desde la Asociación deseamos unas vacaciones felices y tranquilas a todos nuestros lectores.
