Welcome to our 14th Newsletter.
2017 is drawing to a close and we can look back on a year packed with commemorations of those
events that took place 80 years ago and brought many of our readers — or their parents or grandparents — to this country.
It has been a very busy and successful time for the Association and all those involved with
staging events about the niños — some have been our regular speakers and supporters, but other,
new people have become involved, both here and in Spain. Through talks, exhibitions, television
and newspaper reports, and school visits we have introduced our history to a larger audience — and
by drawing parallels with the refugee crises that we see today, we have helped put our history in a
wider, more relevant context.
I plan to write a full report early in the New Year — so if you have been involved in any events that
didn't make it onto our website (see Recent Events),
or want to send photos of any events, then please let me know and I can include them in the review.
Here at the Association we are all looking forward to a bit of a rest and the opportunity to make our
preparations for the Festive Season, together with our family and friends. We will pick up the reins
again around mid January. We are pleased to say that we already have several events in the
planning stages for 2018.

We are sad to announce the following deaths, and extend our condolences to their families:
Cliff Kirkpatrick, great supporter of and contributor to our association.
Born 20th December 1941 in Yorkshire, died 25th November 2017, Surrey.
Funeral on 13th December.

Born 11th March 1930 in San Sebastian, died 21st April 2015, Glasgow.

Bienvenido a nuestro 14º Boletín.
El año 2017 está llegando a su fin y podemos recordar un año lleno de conmemoraciones de los
eventos que tuvieron lugar hace 80 años y que trajeron a muchos de nuestros lectores, o sus
padres o abuelos, a este país.
Ha sido un tiempo muy activo y exitoso para la Asociación y todos los involucrados en la
organización de eventos sobre los niños; algunos nos han apoyado y ayudado desde hace ya
mucho tiempo, pero hay otras personas nuevas que se han involucrado, tanto aquí como en
España. A través de charlas, exposiciones, reportajes de televisión y periódicos, y visitas
escolares, hemos presentado nuestra historia a un público más amplio — y estableciendo
paralelismos con las crisis de refugiados que vemos hoy, hemos ayudado a poner nuestra historia
en un contexto más amplio y relevante.
Espero escribir un informe completo a principios de año nuevo, por lo que si ha participado en
algún acto que no llegó a publicar en nuestro sitio web
(consulte el enlace Eventos recientes), o
quiere mandarme fotos, hágamelo saber y puedo incluirlos en la informe.
Aquí en la asociación todos esperamos descansar un poco y tomar la oportunidad de hacer los
preparativos para la temporada festiva junto con nuestras familias y amigos. Recogeremos las
riendas nuevamente a mediados de enero. Con gusto les avisamos que ya tenemos varios
eventos en planificación para 2018.
